Our 7 Phase Website Development

In all our website development projects we use our 7 phase workflow; either the website is small or big. We clearly understand that no projects deserve any form of short cuts. The use of this standard work plan enables us to explain fully to the client all the processes that will be undertaken to understand the timeline given. The following are our phases in any website development; conceptualization, discovery, content development, design, development, launch and post-launch. These workflow diagrams break the phases in high level tasks that involve checkpoints or milestones that are expected to ne be met (deliverables).

  1. Conceptualization; this is where we define the project. It is the creative key tool for performing this brief. The concept brief acts as the reference point as the project progresses for requirements and the objectives of the project.
  2. The discovery phase; this marks the commencement of the project. This phase involve intensive research on the competition, user needs and many others. At this point most of the website elements outlined in concept phase are affected by elimination, correction and other adjustments.
  3. Development of content; contrary to other website developers who first do the website then develop the content we do the opposite. This makes the content generated to be part and parcel of the process.
  4. Design development; the content and the design development are run concurrently for content will dictate the structure of the website to develop in the design phase. We start designing with the development of the website’s structure and testing using the lo-fi prototypes that are mock ups in power point. After testing and adjustments we undertake on the actual visual design and seek approval; approval is very necessary at this point (Photoshop) to avoid complexities in Html. Html correction is time consuming and will affect other elements.
  5. The next phase we undertake is the development. In this phase we indulge in creating the website templates followed by the individual pages. Due to need to improve the pages we sometimes have to revert back to phase 2 for enhancements.
  6. The launch; this is specifically done on any day of the working week except Friday evening for most support tools needed for testing might not be available through the weekend. The testing we perform involves the checking of the links and other offline applications.
  7. Post launch; immediately the website goes live, we set up a client maintenance plan followed by in-house postmortem of the project with our development team and later with our client. This assist in to revealing the errors that came up during the website development. The error are corrected or adjusted making the website to have the final properties and ready to go for the intended purpose.

In smaller project we use the same methodology, but with the client request and approval we can skip some phase to reduce on the time consumed. Our billing will be determined by this work plan and could be paid in phases to reduce your financial burden.
